B-17 (42-3048) 'Sharon Belle' Tablet -92nd Bomber Group
Details:
On the ground, to the east side of the village war memorial.
A rectangular, smooth stone tablet, carved with the names of ten crew members of the B-17 #42-3048 Sharon Belle of the 327th Bomber Squadron, 92nd Bomb Group that crashed at Astwell Castle Farms on November 30, 1943. The letters were painted in black and the tablet was laid horizontally on the ground. A more detailed plaque related to this could be seen in the village church.
