On the north side of the park, very near the parking lot.


Marker

A rectangular black tablet affixed to a large granite boulder and is inscribed in English in gold lettering. On the top left is an image of the crossed flags of the US and Union Jack while on the opposite is the insignia of the 82nd Division. The memorial is a tribute to the United States 82nd Airborne Division who served in Leicester and County Leicestershire prior to the "D" Day invasion of Europe in December 1944. Unveiling of the memorial was held on May 10, 1986.
