Old Hickory Friendship Tree - 30th Infantry Division

Commemorative Object

A tree with a plaque in front of it.

The tree remembers the friendship between the town of Valkenburg and the 30th Infantry Division.  The 30th "Old Hickory" Infantry Divsion liberated the town on September 17, 1944.  

The Friendship tree was planted on the 45th Anniversary of the town's liberation in 1989 by the 30th Infantry Division Association.

The tree, a Carya Illinoensis, is a type of Hickory tree.
