A bronze plaque mounted on a boulder commemorating Cpt Winters. The plaque includes his photo and awards as well as the commemoration message written in French and English.
Captain William Robert Winters was an American fighter pilot of the 9th Air Force, 50th Fighter Group, 81st Fighter Squadron. His P47 Thunderbolt 42-28406 was shot down by flak between Postroff and Wolfskirchen on 25 November 1944. The plane crashed on the edge of the Wolfskirchen commune, in the field bordering the Ischwald forest.
