At the entrance of the base, two steles of identical shape, one for Lt-Colonel Papin, the other for the Escadrille La Fayette.
Monument
A stone block mounted on a plinth and base. The stone block bears the Lafayette Escadrille insignia and “Escadrille La Fayette” engraving while on the plinth is a rectangular plaque bearing a commemoration message. The inscription on the plaque is written in French in raised lettering.

Escadrille La Fayette.
L'escadrille N124 réunit à Luxeuil le 18 avril 1916 des pilotes Américains volontaires pour lutter aux côtés de la France.
Elle prit le 2 décembre 1916 le nom glorieux qu'elle illustra par ses victoires et par ses sacrifices.
Après l'entrée en guerre des États-Unis elle reçut la bannière étoilée le 7 juillet 1917. Ses pilotes rejoignirent pour la plupart les rangs américains le 18 février 1918.
Ses traditions se perpétuent dans l'armée de l'air française et dans l'US Air Force.

Escadrille N124 was formed in Luxeuil on April 18, 1916, by American pilots volunteering to fight alongside France.
On December 2, 1916, it took on the glorious name it illustrated by its victories and sacrifices.
After the United States entered the war, it was awarded the Star Spangled Banner on July 7, 1917. Most of its pilots joined the American ranks on February 18, 1918.
Its traditions live on in the French Air Force and the US Air Force.
