On the cliff face at the road bend towards the bridge Plaque


Three insrbibed brass plaques mounted to the cliff face one above the other.

The plaques remember the link-up of the 1st Army and the 3rd Army to close of the "Bulge" during the Battle of the Bulge" in January 1945 at the Houffalize Ourthe River Bridge.  Units of the 334th Infantry Regiment, 84th Infantry Division - the "Railsplitters" linked up with units  of the 11th Armored Division - "Thunderbolt".  The link-up between the two Armies occurred on January 16, 1945.

The top plaque is an etching of the link-up.


The text on the next two plaques is written in English and French. They read:

English:
