A civilian cross with an inscribed polished marble plaque at the base.

The ISOB is of Private First Class Lawrence S. Gordon was born in Canada to American parents from Montana.  He served with the 32nd Armored Regiment, 3rd Armored Division during World War 2.  PFC Gordon was KIA on August 13, 1944 and deemed MIA until 2014 when his remains were recovered and buried in the town of his birth.  PFC Gordon's name is permanently inscribed on the Tablets of the Missing at the Brittany American Cemetery. His remains have been recovered and identified. When an individual’s remains have been accounted for by the U.S. Department of Defense, a rosette is placed next to the name on the Wall/Tablet/Court of the Missing to mark that the person now rests in a known gravesite.
