Details:
Monument
A rough-hewn, tapering stone monument with a rectangular black plaque mounted on it. The plaque is written in French with the insignia of the 28th Infantry Regiment, 8th Infantry Division above.
On September 17, 1944, the 1st Battalion of the 28th Infantry Regiment liberated Lanvéoc, with continuous evacuation of German prisoners. The fighting concluded on September 18 as German defenses collapsed. Reinforcements, including the 13th and 121st Infantry and a battalion of the 2nd Rangers, joined the effort. The regiment regrouped in Landerneau and was sent to the Luxembourg front on September 30 after a brief rest. The memorial stele was erected at Saint Efflez in 2003.
