Monument

An inscribed large field stone.

The memorial remembers the crew of B-17 (42-31561) 'Just Elmers Tune' of the 335th Bomber Squadron, 95th Bomber Group.  The plane was shot down on February 24, 1944 while on a mission to Rostock, Germany.  Two of the crew were KIA; the rest were taken POW.

The crew consisted of:

Bombardier: Lars Skoug, 
Radio Operator: Lester Seeling, 
Ball turret gunner: Bob Joyce, 
Waist gunner: Leaman McCulloch, 
Waist gunner: Norman Carnie,
Tail gunner: Edwin Hays 

KIA:
Navigator: Cliff Sahner,
Flight engineer/top turret gunner: George Peckacek 

The memorial was dedicated in 1950.
