Monument

An inscribed granite stone.

The memorial is dedicated to two Allied Airmen who fell over Denmark during WW2.  One flyer is a British unknown airmen who is buried in the cemetery,  The other was an American, Staff Sergeant James E. Parker who was a crew member on the B-17 (42-39936) 'Bar Fly' of the 728th Bomber Squadron, 452nd Bomber Group. He was buried at this site from his death to 1948 when he was repatriated to Ardennes American Cemetery and Memorial, Belgium.

On April 9, 1944 'Bar Fly' was shot down on a mission to Gdynia, Poland.  Six of the crew were KIA; 4 were taken POW.

Waist gunner: Ray Raley, 
Waist gunner: Jim Parker

 Radio Operator: Tim Nunan,
 Ball turret gunner: Bernie Brand, 
Tail gunner: Oather Meese

The inscription is in Danish, the English translation is:


1940 - 1945 
Here rest 2 allied airmen. 
They fell also in the battle 
for the freedom of Denmark.
One of them taken home to the 
USA on 25 April, 1948.
