The Isolated Burial (ISOB) of Second Lieutenant John Richard “Dick” Vlymen Jr. He was the Co-Pilot on B-17 (42-107076) of the 563rd Bomber Squadron, 388th Bomber Group, 8th Air Force. On April 9, 1944 his plane was shot down after a mission to Poznan, Poland.  The entire crew of ten was KIA.  His body was discovered washed ashore near Bøtø, Denmark and he was buried in this cemetery.

The crew of B-17 (42-107076) consisted of:

Pilot: Vince Sundstrom,
Co-pilot: John Vlymen, 
Gunner: S/Sgt Manuel Weintraub, 
Bombardier: Alex Bruce, 
Flight engineer/top turret gunner: Norman Gallagher, 
Radio Operator: John Rose, 
Ball turret gunner: Sid Schneider, 
Waist gunner: Phil Scriffignano, 
Waist gunner: Adolph Waluck,
Tail gunner: Gene Budzbanewski
