Isolated Burial

A civilian headstone; a cross with an inscribed base. The cross has been set in its back as it has become unstable standing on the base.

The Isolated Burial (ISOB) of 1st Lieutenant William S. Ely Jr. 
1LT Ely was a 1917 graduate of Harvard and pilot in the US Army Air Service during World War 1.  He was killed in an accident near this site in January 1918.
