The Isolated Burial of the Ace Flight Lieutenant Carl Davis, a pilot in the RAF 601 Squadron who fought and died in the Battle of Britain.
Davis was born in South Africa to an American father; he trained to become a pilot in New Jersey and is considered one of about 10-11 Americans who flew in the Battle of Britain and is listed on the London Battle of Britain monument in the American section. Davis was shot down on September 6, 1940 and is buried in his family cemetery in Storrington.
