Monument
A stone monument featuring a central rectangular plaque commemorates the crew of the B-24H (42-52463) “Table Stuff”, whose aircraft was lost on May 25, 1944. The plaque, written in French, lists the names of the 11 crew members who perished. A model of the B-24 bomber is mounted above the monument. The memorial was inaugurated on May 23, 2025.
On May 25, 1944, during an air raid on a strategic railway junction near Lyon, B‑24H 42‑52463 “Table Stuff” was critically damaged by German defenses. The crew bailed out into the Mediterranean off the French coast; tragically, neither survivors nor wreckage were ever recovered.
