Monument

A rough-hewn stone monument bearing a rectangular plaque in the center commemorating the fierce battle for Bourg-Saint-Léonard, which changed hands four times from August 16–19, 1944, before being finally liberated by American forces on August 20, 1944, under General Patton’s command, marking the end of major German resistance in Normandy. The plaque is written in French.
