A polished black marble inscribed plaque.
The plaque remembers Brigadier General Wladimir Bonawentura Krzyzanowski, a Polish-American soldier who was born in this village in 1824. BG Krzyzanowski commanded the "Polish Legion", the 58th New York Volunteer Regiment during the American Civil War. He was involved in many battles to include the Battle of Gettysburg. After the war he served in numerous government position and was involved in the purchase of Alaska. He died in New York in 1887 and was buried with honors in Arlington National Cemetery on the 50th Anniversary of his death.
