The plaque remembers the 42nd Infantry Divsion in Austria at the end Of WW2.

The memorial plaque at Kniepass was unveiled on the 65th anniversary of the end of World War II. It, along with the tricolor rainbow painted on the rock, commemorates the arrival of the U.S. Army's 42nd Infantry Division, " Rainbow Division", in Salzburg, commanded by Harry J. Collins.
