Plaque
A rectangular bronze plaque honoring Ondrej Gálik, a Slovak-born Union Army Major who served in the American Civil War, features a portrait relief of him in military uniform. The inscription is presented in both Slovak and English. It was unveiled on June 17, 2019, and was installed by the civic association O.Z. S.A.M.O.V.

*28.11.1815 Brzotín – †18.06.1885 Košice
Zverolekár, cestovatel, obchodník, vojak.
V hodnosti majora 58. dobrovolníckeho pešieho regimentu štátu Ohio,
bojoval po boku generála, budúceho prezidenta U.S. Granta v Americkej
obcianskej vojne. Pochovaný na evanjelickom cintoríne v Košiciach.
Veterinarian, traveler, merchant, soldier.
In the rank of Major of 58th Ohio Volunteer Infantry regiment, fought
alongside general and future president U.S. Grant during American
Civil War. Buried on Evangelical cemetery in Košice.
