Plaque

A brillant, highly polished brass inscribed plaque.

 

The plaque remembers the date and location of the surrentder of the city of Salzburg during WW2 to the Commander of the 3rd Infantry Divsion, MG Robert N. Young, on May 4, 1945. The Sacher Hotel was called the Österreichischer Hof" in 1945.

The text on the plaque is written in German and English.  The English reads:

 

On May 4th 1945, the City of Salzburg was liberated without combatby the 3rd Infanty Division and the 106th Cavalry Group of the 7 US Army.General Robert N. Young accepted the surrender of the City in the hotel "Österreichischer Hof"
