On the wall adjacent to the church next to the town war memorial plaque; by the historic walk stop #3.

Plaque

A yellow sandstone inscribed plaque.

The plaque remembers the the 5th "Red Diamond" Infantry Division's 11th Infantry Regiments effort to cross the Mosel River and develop a bridgehead in September 1944.

 

Stop # 3 covers the river crossing from a nice viewpoint and information about initial crossing by the lead battalion of the 11th Regiment led by LTC Kelley Lemmon.
