MuseumThe D-Day Story, formerly the D-Day Museum, dedicated to telling the story of Operation Overlord, the Allied invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944, and the wider Battle of Normandy.First opened in 1984 by Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, it was redesigned in 2018 by architect Ken Norrish. The museums exhibits are organized into three sections: Preparation, D-Day and the Battle of Normandy, and Legacy featuring artifacts, uniforms, maps, testimonies, and the remarkable Overlord Embroidery. Interactive displays, reconstructions of wartime rooms, and immersive audiovisual presentations bring the events to life, showing both the military strategy and the human stories behind the invasion.
