The plaque rememebrs two OSS Team members Capt. Edward V. Baranski and OSS Agent Daniel Pavletich who were captured at the location and then later executed in the Mauthausen, Austria Concentration Camp.
Monument Text:
The text on the plaque is written in Elnglish and Slovak. It reads:
Na pamä lenom americkej misie OSS, kpt. Edwardovi
V. Baranskému a Danielovi Pavletichovi, úastníkom
boja za slobodu udu Slovenska, zajatým v Pieti,
da 9. decembra 1944 a popraveným v Mauthausene
v Rakúsku, da 24. januára 1945.
Ich hrdinstvo neupadne do zabudnutia.
In memory of OSS Capt. Edward V. Baranski
and Daniel Pavletich, who were captured in Pie,
Slovakia on December 9, 1944 and executed at Mauthausen,
Austria on January 24, 1945, while fighting for the freedom
of the Slovakian people.
Their bravery has not been forgotten.
