On the exterior corner of the building at eye level.
PlaqueAn inscribed plaque on two corners of the building; the plaque includes the Division symbol of the 76th Infantry "Onaway" Division and the 6th Armored "Super Sixth" Division.
The plaque remembers the liberation of the town by the 304th Infantry Regiment of the 76th Infantry Division and Combat Command A of the 6th Armored Division which were part of XX Corps, 3rd US Army in April 1945. The town was subsequently occupied by American forces until the arrive of the Soviet Army. This building served as the HQ for the local US forces during this time.
The plaque was dedicated in May 2005.

The text is in German. The english translation is:
On April 15, 1945, units of Combat Command A, 6th Armored Division, as well as the 304th Infantry Regiment, 76th Infantry Division (XX Corps, Third U.S. Army), liberated the town of Mittweida. With this advance, the U.S. Army reached its easternmost position in Germany.
From April 15 to April 25, this building served as the headquarters of the military governor of the American occupation forces. For operational and tactical reasons, the U.S. troops left the town on April 25. Units of the German Wehrmacht returned and remained until May 5. Between May 6 and May 15, the town was under the control of the U.S. Army until the arrival of the Red Army.
