DRAGOON MEMORIAL PARK

This Park is dedicated to the Soldiers who have served in the Regiment, for it is the Soldiers that make the Regiment lethal.  The 2d Stryker Cavalry Regiment is the oldest continuously serving Regiment in the United States Army founded on 23 May 1836 as the 2d Regiment of Dragoons the Regiment has served from the swamps of Florida during the Seminole Wars to the sands of Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom.  These World War II vehicles represent the lineage of the 2d Regiment of Dragoons, a regiment of warriors trained to fight both mounted and dismounted.  The 2d Cavalry Group used these vehicles in World War II and became know as "the Ghosts of Patton's Third Army" because of their unique ability to mysteriously appear behind enemy lines.  Just as in World War II the current day Stryker Cavalry Regiment is agile, adaptive and decisive.
