Behind the monument.
MarkerGranite marker commemorates the U.S. 37th Armor Regiment. 1st Battalion, 37th Armor Regiment, assigned to 1st Armored Division, was based in Vilseck during the Cold War and Operation DESERT STORM period -- from 1988 to 1997 -- until it was moved to Ray Barracks in Friedberg, Germany. The battalion was inactivated in May 2007, then reactivated in June 2015 at Fort Bliss, Texas, where it is based today.

37TH ARMOR REGIMENTAL MONUMENT
THIS MONUMENT IS DEDICATED TO THE SOLDIERS OF THE 37TH ARMOR REGIMENT. IT STANDS AS A REMINDER OF THE PROUD HISTORY OF THE REGIMENT AND AGGRESSIVE SPIRIT OF ITS SOLDIERS FROM WORLD WAR II THROUGH THE COLD WAR TO OPERATION DESERT STORM. THE 37TH ARMOR REGIMENT DEMONSTRATES THAT COURAGE CONQUERS.
