A statue of a 101st Airborne Divsion Paratrooper sitting on a functional bench with an inscription.

During Operation Market Garden, the castle became General Taylors headquarters for the 101st Airborne Division.

The inscription is in Dutch and reads:

Sint-Oedenrode
Deze militair van de 101st Airborne Division zit voor Kasteel Henkenshage.
Het is op deze plek dat op 25 september 1944 de Britse generaal Horrocks vernam dat Operatie Market Garden gestopt zou gaan worden.
Een dag later gebeurde dat datdwerkelijk.

This soldier of the 101st Airborne Division is sitting in front of Henkenshage Castle.

It was at this location that, on September 25, 1944, British General Horrocks learned that Operation Market Garden was going to be stopped.
