Hohe Schrecke (Thuringia) WW2 Aircrews Memorial

Monument

An engraved plaque attached to an upright filed stone; an inforation sign provides further information on each of the air crews.

The memorial remembers numerous Pilots and aircrews, both US and German,  that crashed in the Hohe Schrecke region of Thuringia, Germany during WW2. The list incldes six B-17s; one P-38; one P-47 and seven German aircraft.

Monument Text:

The text on the plaque is inscribed in German and reads:

Im Gedenken aller Piloten und Besatzungsmitglieder gleich welcher Nation, die bei Abstürzen in und um die Hohe Schrecke den Tod fanden oder in Kriegsgefangenschaft gerieten.

Translation:

In memory of all pilots and crew members, of whatever nationality, who lost their lives in crashes in and around the Hohe Schrecke or were taken prisoner of war
