MonumentA wall like structure with battlefield relics attached to it remembering the battles here in June 1940 and again in Janaury 1945 during the Battle of Hatten-Rittershoffen during the Operation Norwind defense.

A memorial built in 1985 by members of the *Arts Histoire Loisirs* associationunder the presidency of Mr. Raymond Kieffer and with the kind support of the municipality of Rittershoffenhonoring the civilian and military victims of the Battle of Hatten-Rittershoffen. The left side of the memorial depicts the "simultaneous church" (shared by Catholics and Protestants), which was damaged during the fighting and subsequently blown up during the German retreat; the right side shows a ruined traditional half-timbered house, reflecting the fate of over 80% of the buildings in both villages. In the center stands a casemate door from the Maginot Line, inscribed with the names of the units involved in the events around Rittershoffen and Hatten. At the base of the memorial, tank tracks and a fragment of armor recall the tank battle that took place in and around the village. The small gate originally served as the entrance to the cemeterya site of fierce combat!
