MarkerA marble inscribed marker with an Obelisk on top.
The memorial marks the location where 1LT Robert Thompson crashed on April 20, 1945. 1LT Thompson was flying the P-47 (42-28299) 'Iron Mountain' of the 346th Fighter Squadron, 350th Fighter Group, 12th US Air Force on a mission from Pisa to bomb a nearby town with his squadron. After the mission he reported mechanical issues and wasn't seen again. (Missing Aircraft Report {MACR}: 14014.
