A thick rectangular stone plaque set on the ground, with engravings and an inscription in English. The plaque is dedicated in memory of Specialist Julio Caldera Bermúdez, who died in an armored vehicle accident while serving in the 40th Engineer Battalion, 1st Armored Division, based in Germany, in 1999. In 2002, the Battalion dedicated an area on Smith Barracks, Baumholder, as Caldera Corner in his honor, and later moved the plaque to Smith Barracks Memorial Park.
