An information board.

The information board tells the story of the B-17 'The Old Lady' (42-102944) of the 414th Bomber Squadron, 97th Bomber Group, 15th Air Force �flying from Amendola, Italy that crashed near here on August 27, 1944 after a bombing mission to The strategic synthetic oil refineries at Blechhammer, Germany (now Blachownia lska, Poland). Nine of the crew were taken as POW; one evaded capture and one was killed in action.
