Isolated BurialAn inscribed Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) memorial headstone.
An Oklahoman who joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941. He was the youngest Allied flying ace of the war and was credited with 12.5 aerial victories. He was shot down and captured in Sicily and became a POW in 1943. He later escaped the POW Camp in Italy and was able to rejoin his unit. He was shot down by German Ace Gerhard Vogt on a mission over Northern France in January 1944 while flying a Spitfire with 403 Squadron.
His brother Corporal David Weaver, 26th Marines, 5th Marine Division, was killed in action on Iwo Jima in March 1945. His brother is remembered on Claude Weaver's headstone.
