A black plaque with gold writing set upon a vertical stone slab.

The Plaque remembers Major Donald H. McAuley of the 55th Fighter Squadron, 20th Fighter Group who crashed here on April 23, 1944 while flying the P-38 Lightning 42-67949 “Li’l Henry”.  He died shortly after the crash.
