The monument faces east toward the parking lot with the river running along its eastern side.

 

Monument

 

The rectangular sandstone monument commemorates the Moselle river crossing by the 90th Infantry 'Tough Hombres' Division which took place on 9 November 1944. It features an engraved image of soldiers crossing the river as well as French text on one side, with the engraved image of the crossed flags of the United States and Free France (with the Cross of Lorraine) on the other. A cutout section of the memorial reveals the division insignia visible from both sides. The monument was placed in 2004 in celebration of the 60th Anniversary of Liberation
