28th Infantry Division and 707th Tank Battalion Memorial

Details:

Located in the center of the village Marnach, Luxemburg at the NE corner of the intersection of Schullstrooss and Haaptstrooss, in a small park area.

Monument

A stone structure with a plaque commemorating the 707th tank battalion on the left side and a plaque commemorating the 28th infantry division on the right. In between the two plaques is a Keystone, the insignia of the 28th Infantry division. To the immediate right of the stone structure is a metal liberty bell suspended by 4 metal posts.

There are also several information panels remembering the units and the Battle of the Bulge in the area.

THIS PLAQUE IS DEDICATED TO THE OFFICERS AND MEN OF THE 707TH U.S. TANK BATTALION FOR THEIR GALLANTRY IN ACTION AND OUTSTANDING DEVOTION TO DUTY IN THIS AREA DURING THE BATTLE OF ARDENNES DECEMBER 1944

ERIGE PAR LA COMMUNE DE MUNSHAUSEN 1989 150E ANNIVERSAIRE DE L'INDEPENDANCE DU GRAND DUCHE DE LUXEMBOURG

Translation: "Built by the Munshausen Town 1989, the 150th anniversary of Luxemburg independence"

Writing on the Liberty Bell reads: "SANCTE JOSEPH ORA PRO D KNEIP ET PRO PAROCHIANIS MARNACH No 2261"

"St. Joseph, pray for D. Kneip and the parishioners of Marnach"
