Details:

The plaque is near the bottom of the “Monument aux Morts” (Monument to the Dead) which is a gray stone pillar featuring an embossed helmet, sword, and other military imagery.  Plaque

This white marble plaque recognizes (in French) the sacrifice of Howard P. Scott, a native of Worcester, Massachusetts, alongside those French soldiers (all hailing from Asnières-sur-Vègre) who gave their lives fighting for the same cause. The plaque displays Scott’s Army Serial Number and the date and place of death. Scott enlisted in the National Guard and ultimately reached the rank of sergeant. As a member of the 46th Armored Infantry Battalion, 5th Armored Division, Scott would have landed at Normandy and driven south to assist the capture of Le Mans. Afterward, his unit went on to Belgium, the liberation of Luxembourg, and eventually into Germany. Scott now rests in a private cemetery in Massachusetts.
