Details:

This M114 is located in the room called "Salle Monde contemporain" (The Contemporary World) in the front of the museum.  Combat Vehicle Although its predecessor, the M113, was a successful armored vehicle and was used by U.S. allies around the world, the M114 saw only a few years of fighting in the Vietnam War and had a career that lasted only a decade. The M114 was intended as a reconnaissance tank meant to maneuver ahead of the majority of front-line troops yet proved to be unreliable and offered little protection to its crew. The M114 featured one heavy machine gun, a general purpose machine gun, and three small artillery pieces on the back of the vehicle.

Monument Text:

"Built by Cadillac, this armoured reece vehicle is slightly smaller than its predecessor: the M113.

3095 specimens of the A1 model with a 20 mm gun were produced. The numerous technical problems encountered made it prematurely redundant as soon as 1980."
