B-17 'Pickelpuss' (42-30063) Monument (100th Bomber Group)

On the north side of the road, 400 meters SW of the traffic circle, next to a house. Monument


A thin concrete stele bearing a bronze plaque, the American Flag, the unit insignia, and a photo of the crew. It is in a red-gravel clearing and backed by two flagpoles. 

The memorial honors the crew of the B-17 Pickelpuss (42-30063), of the 418th Bomber Squadron, 100th Bomber Group, shot down on August 17, 1943 near this site.

The memorial was inaugurated on 26 May 2006 in the presence of then 88 year old M. Ernest Warsaw, the navigator.
