On the grounds of the Beech Hill Hotel complex Museum

A small museum tell the story of the US Navy Bluejackets, Seabees and Marines who were based in Derry during WWII. Base One Europe was a classified US Navy Base constructed in June 1941, commissioned in February 1942, and was the US Navy's main center of operations in Europe until after the D-day invasion. It consisted seven sites in the Foyle Valley.  One of the main accommodation camps was located in the woodlands around the hotel.  Today this museum room and associated woodland trail preserve the memory.
