Battle of Mount Belvedere Cross

Details:

A large cross on the edge of Mount Belvedere about 50 meters from the ruins of Castel Mount Belvedere.

Marker

A cross mounted to a granite black (about 3 feet tall) with a brass inscribed plaque attached to the block.

 

The marker remembers all the fallen who fought on this battlefields and adjoining mountains in 1944 and 1945 along these positions of the Gothic Line. Italian Partisans were very active fighting the enemy along with the 10th Mountain Division. (See this website, 10th Division Monument for more on the battle)

 

The Alpini Association of Lizzano in Belvedere placed the marker on the 40th anniversary of the battle.
