Museum

The Museo Gotica Toscana (Gothic Line Museum-Tuscany) and Center for Historical Research –Gothic Line in Tuscany (CENTRO DOCUMENTAZIONE RICERCHE STORICHE DI GOTICA TOSCANA ONLUS) is a well curated museum with a knowledgeable staff focused on the fighting along the Gothic Line in this part of Tuscany during the Second World War.

The museum or MUGOT, through its lively displays and dioramas, tells the stories of the US, British Commonwealth, German and Italian soldiers and Italian Resistance that fought in this area – the center of the Gothic Line (Linea Gotica) along the Futa and Giogo passes. In addition to conducting local conflict archeology, the museum staff conduct tours of the local battlefields where the 34th; 85th; 88th and 91st Infantry Divisions fought in 1944. Tours also available in English. The Center recently reconstructed German battle positions on Monte Altuzzo (Near the Giogo Pass just off SP 5030) and on Monte Monticelli.
