Just to the right of the Tank Barriers is located an information board. Marker Information board covering the first crossing into the Third Reich on 11 September 1944 by a recon squadron of the 5th Armored Division.

THE FIRST CROSSING
INTO THE THIRD REICH
The first allied soldiers who crossed here into Germany, 96 days after the Landing in Normandy, on September 11, 1944 at 16.30 hours, were Sgt. Warner W. Holzinger, Cpl. Ralph E. Diven, T/5 Coy T. Locke, Pfc. William McColligan, Pfc. George F. McNeal, Pfc. Jesse Stevens and the French Lieutenant Lionel Delille of the 2nd Platoon, Troop B, 85th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron, 5th US Armored Division. They made their way to Keppeshausen, Germany, reconnoitered the pillboxes of the Siegfried Line near Waldhof, Germany, and returned at 18.15 hours to report to Lt. Loren L. Vipond. The information was radioed to the Headquarters of the 1st US Army, which flashed that night the news to the world that it had crossed the German border.

Les premiers soldats alliés qui ont traversé ici la frontière allemande, 96 jours après le Débarquement en Normandie, le 11 septembre 1944 à 16.30 heures, étaient Sgt. Warner W. Holzinger, Cpl. Ralph E. Diven, T/5 Coy T. Locke, Pfc. William McColligan, Pfc. George F. McNeal, Pfc. Jesse Stevens et le Lieutenant français Lionel Delille du 2e Peloton, Compagnie de Cavalerie B, 85e Escadron de Cavalerie de Reconnaissance, 5e Division Blindée américaine. lls avancèrent vers Keppeshausen, observèrent les fortifications de la Ligne Siegfried près de Waldhof, retournèrent vers 18.15 heure à Stolzembourg et firent leur rapport au Lieutenant Loren L. Vipond. La nouvelle fut transmise à l'Etat Major de la 1ere Armée américaine qui informa le même soir le monde entier qu'elle venait de traverser la frontière allemande.

Dieersten alliierten Soldaten, die hier 96 Tage nach der Landung in der Normandie am 11. September 1944 um 16.30 Uhr, die deutsche Grenze überschritten, waren Sgt. Warner W. Holzinger, Cpl. Ralph E. Diven, T/5 Coy T. Locke, Pfc. William McColligan, Pfc. George F. McNeal, Pfc. Jesse Stevens und der französische Leutnant Lionel Delille vom 2. Zug, Kavalleriekompanie B, 85. Kavallerieaufklärungs schwadron, 5. US-Panzerdivision. Sie drangen nach Keppeshausen vor, beobachteten die Bunker des Westwalls bei Waldhof, kehrten gegen 18.15 Uhr nach Stolzemburg zurück und statteten Lt. Loren L. Vipond Bericht. Die Nachricht wurde dem Hauptquartier der 1. US-Armee gefunkt, die noch am selben Abend die Weh benachrichtigte, dass sie die deutsche Grenze überschritten hatte.
