On the south-west side of the road, next to the La Ferme Du Vallon Des Bouis. Plaque A blue plaque attached on a small stone plinth, inscribe in English and French text, incised in white lettering. The plaque honors 1LT Murphy and cites his Distinguished Service Cross award for his actions done in August 1944 near Les Bouis.

RECEIVED THE DISTINGUISHED SERVICE CROSS FOR EXTRAORDINARY HEROISM IN ACTION 15 AUGUST 1944 NEAR THIS LOCATION - LES BOUIS - IN RAMATUELLE, FRANCE. LANDING WITH THE FIRST WAVE AT 0800 ON THE BEACH OF PAMPELONNE, HIS UNIT WAS HALTED BY INTENSE MACHINE GUN AND SMALL ARMS FIRE FROM A BOULDER-COVERED HILL TO HIS FRONT. THEN SSG MURPHY LEFT HIS MEN IN A COVERED POSITION AND CONSTANTLY EXPOSING HIMSELF TO THE EXTREME FIRE PROCEEDED TO ATTACK SUCCESSIVE ENEMY MACHINE GUN POSITIONS UNTIL SUBDUING THE FINAL POSITION AT THE SUMMIT OF THE HILL. HIS EXTRAORDINARY HEROISM RESULTED IN THE CAPTURE OF A FIERCELY CONTESTED HILL AND THE ANNIHILATION OR CAPTURE OF THE ENTIRE ENEMY GARRISON.

AUDIE MURPHY RECEIVED THE MEDAL OF HONOR FOR CONSPICUOUS GALLANTRY AND INTREPIDITY AT THE RISK OF HIS LIFE ABOVE AND BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY WHILE ENGAGED IN ACTION AGAINST AN ENEMY OF THE UNITED STATES NEAR HOLTZWIHR, ALSACE, FRANCE ON 26 JANUARY 1945. HIS OTHER US COMBAT AWARDS INCLUDE THE SILVER STAR WITH FIRST OAK LEAF CLUSTER; THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL WITH "V" DEVICE AND FIRST OAK LEAF CLUSTER; AND THE PURPLE HEART WITH SECOND OAK LEAF CLUSTER.
