The plaque is attached on the guardrail on the east side of the bridge. Plaque A rectangular white plaque, inscribed in English and French text, incised in black lettering. The insignia of the 179^th Infantry Regiment is printed on the top-left while the 45^th Reconnaissance Troop’s insignia is on the top-right. The crossed flags of the US and France are printed in colors on the center. The plaque commemorates the crossing of the two units on the Moselle River in September 1944.

Here the 179th lnfantry Regiment and the 45th Reconnaissance Troop of the

45th Infantry Division of the United States of America, forcibly crossed the

Moselle river on September 22.1944, despite very strong resistance from

German troops. About fifteen of our liberators lost their lives there.
