“Thank you Boys” Memorial- Dily

On the roadside of a forest road.

Monument


A large stone with a brass inscribed plaque attached to the front.  The memorial also includes a wooden structure filled with pieces of military equipment that was destroyed in an attack while liberating the village.  An information panel is nearby.

 

On April 29, 1945 American recon units arrived near this location and were attacked by enemy forces.  Four US Soldiers fell here on April 29, 1945.  Díly was liberated on May 1, 1945

Na věčnou paměť vojáků armády

Spojených států, kteří položili své

životy při osvobozování obce Díly

dne 1. května 1945, vděční občané.

 

IN ETERNAL MEMORY OF THE U.S. ARMY

SOLDIERS WHO LAID DOWN THEIR LIVES

ON LIBERATING THE VILLAGE OF DÍLY

ON MAY 1, 1945, GRATEFUL CITIZENS.
