SHAEF Gate Memorial Plaque
Details:
The SHAEF gate is in the park wall between Teddington and Sandy Lane Gates. The memorial plaque is mounted on the inside wall to the right. The gate marks the former main entrance to the camp used by SHAEF, headed by General Eisenhower.
A rectangular metal plaque inscribed in English in raised lettering. Depiction on the top right and left corners are the insignia of the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force (SHAEF).

IN MEMORY OF THOSE GALLANT MEN AND WOMEN
WHO SERVED IN CAMP GRIFFISS (WIDEWING)
DURING WORLD WAR II.
THIS GATE IS ALSO DEDICATED TO THE BRAVE MEN
WHO CLEARED THE NORMANDY BEACHES PRIOR TO
THE MAIN D-DAY LANDINGS ON JUNE 6TH 1944.
THIS GATE WAS PRESENTED IN 1994 BY CAPTAIN SIR DONALD GOSLING RNR.
