Rescue of the B-17 ‘Jaynee B’ crew Plaque
Details:
Attached on the outside wall of the building, to the left of the entrance door.
A rectangular plaque engraved with a message of gratitude to the Avant-Garde sailors that is written in French. This plaque is offered by 1Lt George B. McIntosh, Jr, the pilot of the aircrew that was rescued by the sailors. On March 20, 1944, "Jaynee B" was shot down off the coast of Plouhinec by the Germans; the airmen were rescued by the crew of the fishing boat L'Avant-Garde, which left Pors-Poulhan to come to their rescue.
