Monument

A trapezoid stele bearing a black plaque that contains a commemoration for the crew of the B-26. The plaque is written in French and English in white lettering. Printed images on the plaque are a depiction of a B-26 and the insignia of the 9th Air Force. On August 12, 1944, at 20:40, during a bombing mission in the area of Flers, the B-26 "Winnie Dee II" of the 322nd Bomb Group, 449th Bomber Squadron, was directly hit by flak in the ammunition bay and crashed in flames.
