Mounted on one of the last columns of the viaduct (north side). Can be easily seen on the west side of the road.

Plaque
A black rectangular plaque written in French commemorating the 36th Infantry Division that landed here in World War II during Operation Dragoon. The 141st Infantry Regiment landed in Camel Blue Beach aka Antheor Cove on August 15, 1944. The plaque on the viaduct remembers this, honor their KIA and wounded, and recalls their Presidential Unit Citation.

Sur cette plage d'Anthéor, la plus difficile du secteur

assigné à la 36e Division d'Infanterie américaine lors

du Débarquement de Provence, s'est déployé

le 1er Bataillon du 141e Régiment. Son héroïsme, sa bravoure,

et son esprit de corps durant les journees des 15 et 16 août

1944 furent récompensés par une Presidential Unit Citation

décernée par le Général Dwight D. Eisenhower.

English translation:

 

On this beach at Anthéor, the most difficult in the sector

assigned to the American 36th Infantry Division during the

Provence Landings, the 1st Battalion

of the 141st Regiment was deployed. Their heroism, bravery,

and corps spirit during the days of August 15 and 16

1944 were rewarded with a Presidential Unit Citation

awarded by General Dwight D. Eisenhower.
