Monument

A stone monument with a rectangular black plaque honoring SSgt Ruben Rivers, who lost his life in this area on November 19, 1944. The plaque features the 761st Tank Battalion insignia and includes inscriptions in both English and French.

On November 16, 1944, his tank hit a mine, inflicting a severe leg injury. Despite his wounds, Rivers refused medical evacuation, took command of another tank, and continued to lead his unit. Over the next few days, he directed his tank's fire against enemy positions. On November 19, 1944, while covering his company's withdrawal, his tank was hit by enemy fire, resulting in his death.
